Bales of straw lined the path to her pumpkin patch. The scarecrow waved at Calliope as she passed by, the empty clothes flapping in the breeze. She moved through the beds of squash, pumpkins, and zucchini, working her way to the far end where her giant pumpkin lay. A crow flew overhead and she turned to watch it. When her gaze dropped back down to the ground, she noticed the scarecrow had moved to the other side of the pumpkin patch.
